Manteniendo un horario de limpieza en el jardín es de máxima importancia para HdV estos días. Cuanto más
rápido este limpia la tierra- más
rápido podremos comenzar a crecer en ella!
Esta semana las
jornadas de trabajo eran todo sobre control de malezas y preparar el sitio para
el compuesto. A nuestra llegada, era
fácil a ver que la tierra estaba
siendo consumida por las malas
hierbas gigantes. Nuestra tarea
consistía en sacar a estos monstruos de la tierra y a ponerlos en
grandes montones a secarse en el sol. Tenemos la intención de secar las malas hierbas para luego utilizarlas como ayudantes en nuestros esfuerzos de compostaje.
Mientras limpiábamos el sitio nos sorprendimos por el número de plantas comestibles que encontramos! Esta planta en particular es muy especial! Es un tipo de Artemisa- una planta que es nativa de esta región (costa occidental de Baja California y California) y en ningún otro lugar! WOW! Fue una gran sorpresa encontrar la y sin duda la vamos a cuidar.
Keeping a cleaning schedule at the garden is of paramount importance to HdV these days. The quicker we get the land cleaned up- the quicker we can start growing on it! This week the work days were all about weed control and prepping the site for composting. Upon arrival it was easy to see that the land was being consumed by giant weeds. Our task then was to pull out these monsters and gather them in big piles to dry in the sun. We plan to dry the weeds out and use them later as helpers in our composting efforts.
While pulling the weeds we were surprised by the number of
wild edible plants that we found on the site! This particular plant is
really special! It is a type of sagebrush- a coastal sage scrub plant that is native
to this region (Western coast- Baja and
